Losing the Dropbox icon from menu bar

New member | Level 2
New member | Level 2

My 2015 Macbook Pro was being taxed memory- and space-wise so I attempted to clean it up a bit ... moving files into Dropbox.  Since then, the Dropbox icon on my menu bar keeps going in and out and doesn't seem to complete any task.  I tried re-installing it, unlinking the computer and re-linking.  Seems like my computer can't get Dropbox to run fully.  Any thoughts?

Hey there @toddy2

Thanks for checking in with us! Let's see what we can do here.

At first, please bear in mind that the performance of the desktop app can decline if you have more than 300,000 files synced to your computer.

Although this is a soft limit dependant on the hardware specifics of the device, you can try to improve the syncing speed by using selective sync

Another troubleshooting steps you can give a shot is to try to temporarily disable your antivirus and ensure that your firewall is configured to work with Dropbox

Let me know how it goes!
