Mac to PC: Some files not showing up on PC

Explorer | Level 3

My company just made the switch from using iCloud as our main server to Dropbox Business. We have our Dropbox account downloaded and open on several local computers in our office. The Mac computers update and sync right away. The PCs sync and say it is up to date but a select few files and folders (of our 100,000+ files) are not showing up in the PC documents or Dropbox app. It will show up if I add it from another PC, but then on the Mac it shows up as a duplicate. If we access dropbox.com on the PC, all of the folders and files are there. The master computer that we made the switch through is a Mac, the majority of the local machines are PCs. I have each computer set to smart sync through Online Only. Thoughts and solutions?

Hey there @maddieb46, thanks for reaching out to us here!

Since it appears to just be a few files and the app is reporting "up to date" on those PCs, can you check for me if there are any incompatible characters within the file names?

You can find a full list of these characters from here. These are OS dependent so it's possible that this is the cause here. Removing these characters will allow the files to be synced.

Let me know what you find!
