Yeah, it took a while to figure out how to disable this. It's way too intrusive. Seriously dropbox, don't let Microsoft push you around.... a little subtlety would be nice. It was hard to know if turning it off is a dropbox preference or a MS office preference. Turns out it's dropbox preference.... and "Dropbox badge": "if others present" ... what heck does that mean!??! BTW, the other point of confusion is that the "dropbox badge" could mean perhaps the mac menubar dropbox icon. Non-obvious. Just make it more subtle (like insert it into the office ribbon perhaps).
Went through the hassle of logging in (sent me a security code to my phone, etc), just to upvote these. 😄 Best comment yet, is the analogy to MS Paperclip. 😛 Guess the Dropbox devs are too young to remember that annoying, metal know-it-all.
