Message: Can't synch (not enough free disk space).

Hi,

I get the message: "Can't synch (not enough free disk space)."  Help: https://www.dropbox.com/help/142

My SSD disk (C:) has 60 GB free. (32% free)

My Drive with Dropbox has 244 MB free (from 1 GB ),

I have selective sync enable and due to that should have no space issue. (content to sync/update is 500 KB

In the past I could get passed this error with pausing and resuming.

Version 3.12.5

FYI, Selective Sync doesn't free up up space in Dropbox.  What ever files reside in your Dropbox whether on your Harddrive or the cloud counts toward your quota.  Is this the issue?

No, my DropBox has 3 GB free. This is related to my HDD on my PC.

show the numbers in https://www.dropbox.com/account#personal

e.g.

7.6 GB of 36.38 GB used

 Regular files (4.4 GB)
 Shared files (3.2 GB)
 Unused space (28.8 GB)

Yes. But Dropbox IS a folder on your hard drive.

You need enough space on your hard drive to upload the files.

Rick - the quota isnt an issue, the local hard drive space is. As he has said.

Yeah Mark, but more info can sometimes help clarify.

  • My Dropbox has 3.2 GB of 6.75 GB used
  • On My PC I have selective sync of around 500 KB from the 3.2 GB
  • The Target Dropbox folder on my PC is on the T drive 244 MB free (from 1 GB )

I suspect the logic of Dropbox code doesn't check properly free space on target local HDD vs selected sync folder in Dropbox.

Is the Target Drive one that has to be mounted when PC starts?  Dropbox Client works well on a HD that Dropbox Client is installed on.

Yeah Mark, but more info can sometimes help clarify.

But it can also cause confusion when the information is not relevant.

Hi Chris

no, the drive get mounted after login, so Dropbox complains and exit.  I start it manual after mount and Dropbox stays green (Up to date)  until the client give the Can't synch (not enough free disk space)

My PC is Windows 8.1 x64

Any log file / debug file I should look at? C:\Users\user123\AppData\Roaming\Dropbox\logs seems empty.
