My dropbox is stuck in a mode of syncing and Indexing. I let it run for a while but then the dropbox icon closes. When it finally opens I'm back to where I was before the crash. Not sure what to do. Can't use a lot of my files and the constant syncing is destroying my battery. Using the most recent dropbox on Mac. I have removed from my dock and computer. I have reinstalled and it's still doing the same thing.

Hi there @Abernathy42,
Thanks for giving a reinstall a try - definitely helps in taking that troubleshooting step out of the equation.
Could you also check if you have any third party app that could be hindering the syncing/startup process of the desktop app, like a security program or an antivirus? Additionally, could you ensure that you have configured your firewall to work with Dropbox?
Let me know what you find!
Although I can't say for certain, can you give it a try and temporarily close/disable it?
Let me know of any updates, @Abernathy42!
Thanks for keeping me in the loop, @Abernathy42! Glad to hear that all works as it should.

Hey @drkimball, thanks for nudging us on this thread.
At first, have you tried a simple reinstall of the desktop app?
Keep me posted!
@Lusil of course i have tried a simple reinstall. I've tried advanced reinstall, simple reinstall, bought a brand new $4000 computer with absurd processing speed, memory, and storage and started from scratch. I've toyed with all the possible configurations, worked step-by-step through the issue 2 separate times over the past 3 years with dropbox support... etc. etc. etc.
Hey again @drkimball, thanks for letting me know and great work with the troubleshooting!
At this point, I'd suggest contacting our team who will be able to look into this a bit more in-depth.
Could you reach out to the via this page and let me know the ticket ID (eg. #1234567)?
