New laptop, dropbox says 80,000 files deleted, but nothing is missing

Hi-- I recently installed dropbox on a new laptop, synced thousand of files (which took a couple of days). Then got loads of messages on my old laptop saying '100 files deleted'. Panicked a bit, but nothing seemed to be missing. Now my old and new laptops are all synced, all the files are there (I think), but I got an email message saying "you recently deleted 80,000 files". This makes me a bit nervous! I can't see what's missing-- does dropbox make loads of copies and then delete them or something?

Have you moved or renamed any large folders recently? To Dropbox, a move or rename will be seen as a deletion and an addition, and could easily trigger the deletion notification you received, even when nothing was really deleted.

Thanks for this reply! No I don't think so (at least, not containing 80,000 files), although all my photos (about 7,000) have been migrated to Photos rather than old iPhoto library, so maybe that's it?

Hey @Fiona G.2!

Perhaps having a look at your Events page would be useful to see exactly what happened there. It'll show a full report of the actions taken to see if you find an addition event like Rich mentioned above.

Hope this helps!
