Generally speaking, we usually advise being Up-to-Date, just so as to ensure that everything has been running smoothly in this respect, since all updates should be installed on your desktop automatically @MikeWill34
 
To answer yourquestion, you should be able to un-install & re-install the desktop app following the relevant link &/or reference the steps outlined here to get going with an Advanced re-install. 
 
Would you mind giving it a go if you haven’t already? Otherwise, please let me know here if you’ve already attempted following these instructions without success & I’ll make sure to create a ticket on our system on your behalf.

Automatic updates were obviously not working, so I went to the online portal, downloaded the latest installer and all in now fine.

Perfect @MikeWill34, happy to hear you got that sorted now! 
 
As you’ve noticed that our updates aren’t automatically installed on the problematic device, it would be a good idea to check whether there’s a third-party app that’s blocking them.
