Is there a way to put a password to prevent our employees from changing dropbox settings? mainly the selective sync?
No, I am afraid there is not. Its been requested but hasn't bubbled up yet. Sorry.
About the only work around, is to have a second account and only share what is need, between the 2 accounts via a shared folder. Giving them access to the second account only.
Georges A. : setup a second user account on the computer, install the Db app on that instead, set up the selective sync as needed, and move the dropbox folder to a location both accounts can access. Then launch the Db app at system start via a scheduled task.
This prevents the Db app from being in the active users taskbar, hence they cant change the settings.
It may be worth asking WHY do they change selective-sync settings? If it is to save space on their work computers it does not sound like a dropbox problem. If they are using it to speed up their computer then they should use "pause-sync". ...
A shared folder cannot contain a shared folder. So you can share B separately from C,
but all the small accounts have to be separate shares and Dept A cannot be shared AFIK.
Georges A. : What is not clear is why you showed us your folder structure, it has no reference to the original question as to, locking out settings on employees computers.
