I get a permissions related error when installing the desktop app on my Mac. Any clues?

I've moved your post here as you're getting the same error as the OP.

Error message: Couldn't start Dropbox. This is usually because of a permissions error.

But it isn't . I don't share with anyone and don't have permissions.

That message isn't referring to sharing permissions, but the permission system in your operating system and Dropbox having access to run properly. You'll need to provide more information before anyone will know how best to help you. What is your operating system and version? What version of Dropbox are you running? Is this a new install or an update? etc.
