@Daphne That worked! I encountered no problems in getting Dropbox going after that. Thanks!

Hello @Nicolas99, I hope you're having a good Friday so far!

I've moved your post here as you're getting the same error as the OP.

When you have the chance, please take a look at the steps Lusil provided here and let me know if that does the trick.

I hope this helps!

Error message: Couldn't start Dropbox. This is usually because of a permissions error.

But it isn't . I don't share with anyone and don't have permissions.

That message isn't referring to sharing permissions, but the permission system in your operating system and Dropbox having access to run properly. You'll need to provide more information before anyone will know how best to help you. What is your operating system and version? What version of Dropbox are you running? Is this a new install or an update? etc.

Couldn't start Dropbox - how do I fix this? (Mac)

New member | Level 2

Hi! We use Dropbox at work, and have the Plus account. Last night I did a software update of my MacBook Air and since then, I can't access anything Dropbox on the desktop. I have tried deleting the app altogether and reinstalling it, but I keep getting the same error message:

Couldn't start Dropbox

This is usually because of a permissions error. Storing your home folder on a network share can also cause an error.

For more information, click the help button below.

Please contact Dropbox support with the following info for help:

*a text link*

I have browsed the forum for guidance but nothing has helped. I can't amend any preferences since the app won't open at all, uninstalling and reinstalling doesn't work as the same error message pops up during installation.

Any tips? I really need this fixed as I can't access any documents for work until it's back up and running.
