Photo Backup

For some reason, today my iPhone is permanently stuck on the 'Starting photo backup - looking for photos'. I've tried the usual switching off my phone and restarting it, disconnecting and reconnecting to the wifi. Unfortunately Dropbox just isn't recognising any new photos stored on my phone. Does anyone have any experience of this and how I can rectify it please?

Hi @JacquelineD, thanks for joining the Community!

If you're not on a Dropbox Basic plan with more than 3 devices connected, could you try uninstalling the app, rebooting the device, and re-installing it to see if this helps?

Keep me updated with any progress!

Hi Jay, thanks for the reply. I have a Dropbox Plus account. Is there a different step I should be taking?

No, it means that you won't have the device limit on your account, so you can uninstall and reinstall the app using the steps I mentioned.

I’m having the same issue - I tried uninstalling the Dropbox app, rebooting, and reinstalling, but it’s still getting stuck on “Starting photo backup Looking for photos...”

Hey @RebeccaL; sorry to hear you're having issues with this.

If this persists on other wifi networks and/or over cellular data, could you ensure that the app has been granted the relevant permissions through your device's settings?

For background: I have Dropbox Professional connected to 2 devices including my iphone 11 Pro Max running 14.4.1

Thank you, @Walter! Dropbox is already allowed to access all photos on my phone and both background refresh and cellular data are enabled - are there any other settings I should check?

Could you also try clearing the app's cache, Rebecca?
