Re: Red cross despite following all the instructions

Red cross despite following all the instructions

I moved into a new computer yesterday and installed Dropbox. It seems to work as it should with updating the files and synchronisation. The snag is that all the files, INCLUDING files in the downloaded folder have this red cross, even though this folder is not, and have not, and will not be included in the files that will be comprised of my Dropbox content.

I don't know how to get rid of this red cross. I have logged out and logged in again. I have logged out, downloaded and re-installed Dropbox. It is still there. What more can I do? I am not a data specialist, so I don't want to fix anything in the register. There must be a simpler way of solving this problem.

Yours sincerely,

Elisabeth LK

Actually, you already have included everything you are mentioning. 🙂 Be more careful in future. Seems you have turned Dropbox "Computer Backup" on. That's exactly what the feature do. If you  don't want this, don't turn this feature on anymore. 😉

You can see steps to turn it off here.

Hope this helps.

Well, you are right that I unintentionally included the back-up feature without knowing it, since I was not informed of this feature from the beginning. I realised this afterwards, and unclicked those boxes, but then the damages had apparently already occurred. So, tell me now how I get rid of all these red crosses (or rather, white crosses in a red circle).

Dear Sdravko,

I took a chance to unistall the other synk-tool I have, Mega, and suddenly the red crosses disappeared and all the files in the download folder got rid of the red crosses. Apparently there was some kind of collision between them, and Mega interfered with Dropbox in a negative way, probably because the place where Mega was installed went wrong.

Rgds,

E

Generally using different sync/cloud tool together shouldn't leads to collisions. Despite, you should avoid share the same place of sync/access to different services applications together. Using them in such a way leads to big chance for such issues. For example if you are trying to sync your Documents folder in same time by 2 (or more) services is something error prone (as seems in your situation). If no such case there is no problem.

Be careful... and healthy! 😉
