Reinstall Dropbox on new laptop running Windows 10/Chrome after old laptop died.

Explorer | Level 4

My old worn-out laptop died; it wouldn't even boot up, so I couldn't save any files or settings from it. When I tried to install Dropbox on my new laptop, Dropbox stopped me, stating I would be over my limit of three machines. No, I would be replacing one of the three machines I have, but I can't get past that error message, and I can't actually talk to Customer Support to correct the problem. Can anyone help?

Hi there @samckelvey; welcome to our Community and happy Friday!

Have you tried removing any devices that might be putting your over your account's limit before trying to install our desktop app on your new computer?

You can see the list of your connected devices and unlink any that you don't need any more here:

https://www.dropbox.com/devices

When you drop your connected devices below 3, then, you should be able to link your new device normally.

Let me know how it goes!

Walter,

It worked perfectly once I understood how to find my list of devices. You're a treasure. Thank you so much!
