Smart Sync is working mostly as expected, but I found a bug there.
I'm using it on macOS 10.13.
When I click a ttf (true-type font) file in Finder, the Finder shows a preview of that font file on the right side panel. For locally synced files, this just works.
But if I click a ttf file that is cloud-only, then the Finder window abruptly closes and all the Dropbox icon overlays are gone. I need to relaunch Finder and the Dropbox app to get them back.
There seems no data losses/corruption issues, but the Finder just gets crashed. If I download the font files and make them locally synced, everything is okay.
I think there are some issues to handle previews of cloud-only files with Smart Sync. For instance, the preview of my cloud-only PDF files works great. Maybe there are some missing pieces of this feature.

Hey @K. Joongi
I couldn't replicate this issue. When I preview (hitting spacebar on Mac) a ttf that's saved online only, it will open like this, no crash:
If I double-click the ttf file, it will download locally to then open a preview, which is expected. No crash either.
Does it happen on any ttf file? If so - our specialists may need to troubleshoot it further for you on www.dropbox.com/support
I'd also check whether you're on the latest stable build (dropbox.com/downloading)
Cheers

I'm using this version:
So far the problem only happened with TTF files, but I haven't check all file types in my Dropbox yet.
The preview on the right side panel I mean is (not the pop-up one which shows up when pressing the space bar):
The space-bar preview works too for me:
But if I change the view option to the hierarchical view where the rightmost panel shows the preview of the selected file, Finder crashes with online-only files.
For instance, in the below status, Finder immediately closes (maybe crashes) if I click any file.
While writing/editing this reply, I got an explicit Finder error trace when I tried to terminate the Dropbox app using the menu bar:

Hi @K. Joongi
I tried the same and it worked fine here. We may need you to log a ticket with support to check if there's anything in your version that could be causing it. Are you on the latest client build version?
Here's how this looks on mine

Ok, then how can I open a support case?
I just updated the app by manually downloading, and now the version is 38.3.23 (a minor upgrade from 38.3.21).
The download version was lower (37.xx.xx) but just auto-updated to this version.
Nevertheless, the issue still persists.
Now waiting for the support reply.
Just to point out in case you're not aware...
You're running the beta version. A version listed as x.3.x is beta, while x.4.x is stable. While you may have downloaded stable, you would be automatically upgraded to the latest beta if you have Early releases turned on in your account settings. It might be worth turning that off and installing the stable release to see if the issue continues.
