Smart Sync won't work in Catalina

Smart Sync won't work in Catalina

I can'gt get Smart Sync working on a new OSX Catalina 10.15 install (19A603).

When I go to Preferences and click "Enable" nothing happens. See photo.

Anyone know how to fix this?

Hey there @mdcosby, welcome to the Dropbox Community!

From what I can see from the screenshot, you have the beta version of the desktop app.

For this reason, could you try installing the latest stable version (83.4.152), instead? To do this, you'll need to:

  1. Log in to the website.
  2. Click on you account picture/avatar at the top right corner of the page.
  3. Go to your Settings.
  4. From the General tab, scroll down to the section titled Preferences.
  5. Uncheck the box next to Include me in early releases if it is checked.
  6. Then, use this link to install the latest stable version of the desktop app.

Once you install the stable build, it might take some time to re-index the files and sync any pending changes but your app's functionality should return to normal.

I have installed the latest non-beta version per your inscructions and am having the same issue. Screenshots below. When I try to click "Enable" nothing happens...

RIght clicking and selecting any of the Smart Sync options also does nothing (files remain on my mac hard drive....)

Any other thoughts?

I have same ploblem.

I'm a Japanese user, so screen messages are Japanese. "有効にする" means "Enable".

Nothing happens whenever I click "有効にする"

Please let me know if you find a solution.

Hi @rucola, thanks for nudging us on this and sorry to hear that you're also experiencing the same behavior. 

I can see that you're running the current stable version of the desktop app, so at this point, I'd recommend continuing via email so as to have a more in depth look. 

I located your ongoing support request and can see that it's with a specialized member of the team. I've passed your comments along and they'll get back to you as soon as they have more info on the matter.

Hey @sjv, thanks for nudging us here and sorry to hear that you're also having trouble with enabling Smart Sync on your computer. 

Could you please confirm if you've tried temporarily disabling/closing any third party app, like a security software or antivirus, that could be hindering the desktop app's performance? Maybe that will do the trick.

I've just downloaded the Catalina update, restarted, and now SMart Sync is working.
