I am using dropbox on my iphone - now I am trying to connect to my mac computer. When I download the app to my mac, while being logged in to dropbox online, my wifes dropbox gets installed on my mac computer. So, I have my dropbox on my Iphone and my whifes on my mac computer. I want my dropbox on both devices. How?

Hi @thomashagge; welcome to the Community!

From what I gather, the desktop app on your computer is connected to your wife's account - correct me if I'm wrong please.

If that's the case indeed, you'll just need to unlink her account before you can link yours.

Follow these steps to unlink a computer:

1) Control-click the Dropbox icon in the menu bar, by the clock
2) Click on your profile picture or initials to the right of the search bar and select 'Preferences' > 'Account'
3) Click the 'Unlink' button
4) Afterward, Dropbox will prompt you to re-register at which point you can use your own credentials to log in.

That said, note that your wife's (the old) Dropbox folder is still there. If you relink to a different Dropbox account, the application will detect that another Dropbox folder already exists on the computer, and will give you two options: 'Choose Another Location' or 'Install'.

Since you'll probably want your new Dropbox folder to be in a location different than your existing folder, you should click on 'Choose Another Location'.

If you want your new Dropbox folder to be in the same location as your existing one, click on 'Install'. This will rename the existing Dropbox folder to 'Dropbox (Old)' and will create a new Dropbox folder for the account you’re currently linking.

I hope this helps and please keep me posted on your progress.

You need to unlink your Mac from your wife's account, and link your own account instead.
