I try to download Dropbox and install it but always get this message:

The file “DropboxInstaller.dmg-2.download” doesn’t appear to be a valid download file.

I am using Mac0S Sierra version 10.12.6

+1 to what @Chris_J said. I'd say that the likely cause is that the install package (from the meta-installer) is corrupt. it can be corrupted by an aggressive anti-virus. Personally, I'd attempt the install via the offline installer - which is a full package download. I never want to advise disabling security software as that's not best practice.

You can download that from:

https://www.dropbox.com/downloading?plat=win&type=full (Windows)
https://www.dropbox.com/downloading?plat=mac&type=full (Mac)

Hello tildadafoe

Thanks for reaching out.  I really think the file hasn't fully downloaded yet.  Something perhaps is causing it to not finished downloading.  Once it's downloaded, the wording 'download' would be taken off the name.  You should end up with a file with a .dmg at the end.

Try again and maybe get it from here: https://www.dropbox.com/install

Hopes this helps and let us know how it went.
