Transfering files to iOS removes capitals in filename.

Transfering files to iOS removes capitals in filename.

When opening a file in an app on a device running iOS 11.1.2, all capitals in the filename are changed to lower case.  Apps that show this behaviour are Microsoft Word version 2.7 and FileMaker Go version 15.0.4.  The files when viewed in the DropBox app (version 72.2.2) look fine.

This is a major problem as FilMaker Go cannot then find associated files.

Hi Frostie,

I forwarded your bug to the Files app integration team at Dropbox. They said this issue is on their radar (they had previous reports and they know the cause) but they don't have a timeline for the fix yet.

Hi Frostie,

Can you tell me the specific steps you take to transfer the files to those apps?

Hi Maple,

From a pc, I drag and drop files to the dropbox folder in Explorer.

If I open the DropBox app on the iPad, the file is there, with the correct capitalisation.

Using Word as an example, I open the app, click on Open, more... Dropbox - company name.

In the panel to the right, the file is shown with the correct capitalisation, and a 'download cloud' symbol in the top right of the file icon.

I click on the icon, it downloads and is opend by Word..... and the file name has been renamed with the capitals replaced with lowercase letters.

Not sure if this helps...

If I then save a copy of the document as TestCopy2, to the dropbox folder on the iPad, and then view the file in the DropBox app, the filename has changed to testcopy2.

Hi Maple,

Have you been able to make any progress with this?

Kind regards,

Frostie

I have been able to test this on a different iPad running an earlier version of iOS (9.3.5) and DropBox works fine.

Have you been able to reproduce the problem?
