Transferring fiels and storage

New member | Level 2

Hi, I transfer files from my external hard drive and onto dropbox via my mac. Can I just check - are those files being stored locally on my mac as well as Dropbox online?

All I want to do is back up selectively from my external 4tb hard drive. I don't want files sat on my mac.

I can see syncing going on but I want to know if they will remain on my HD (MAC)? Thanks.

The Dropbox folder on your computer is a folder like any other. Anything you place in the folder takes up space on your local drive.

If you don't want a folder to be stored locally, you can use Selective Sync to remove the local copy AFTER syncing has finished (NOT BEFORE). Copy folders from your external drive to the Dropbox folder. WAIT FOR THEM TO SYNC FULLY (green check mark), and then remove them using Selective Sync. The folders you uncheck will be removed from your local drive and remain online.
