What happened to my Dropbox Update log?!

Explorer | Level 4

Hallo, since weekend my dropbox write any obscure LOG file. Every hour the PC runs. Its UNWANTED. Dropbox is off (ran of Friday as I remember). I found 2 hidden "system" processes called drobox update service. I stopped them but doesnt help. How to stop this UNWANTED behaviour??? Ok I can run dropbox and then say update. I can update by hand. I can find "start at system" and stop it. But now new quality - the program is OFF but still goes UNWANTED and NOT ALLOWED to internet? How can I stop it?

Hey @alfware17, thanks for checking in with us!

I'd be more than happy to help look into this with you, I'll just need a bit more info. For example:

  • When you mention that the program is off, are you pausing or quitting the Dropbox desktop app?
  • Are you by any chance getting high CPU or RAM usage?
  • Could you also send me a screenshot (without any personal info) of what you're seeing in relation to the logs?

Keep me posted!

Re: Dropbox Update log WTF

Hallo Lusil,

by Off I mean the Dropbox is quit. I normally start when I need an then always quit.

Look my picture, that files I mean. Yesterday I deleted whole folder - before there was only single entries from say 1 month ago or 2018 and so on. But not regular every hour.

And no my CPU/RAM is normal. When writing this, I started the Dropbox and it normally says "Starting", version 88.4.172, short look for new data and then is ready, actual but silent. In my preferences there is nothing I could switch off but there must be some alive writing that unwanted LOG files

Thanks for getting back to me, @alfware17

Hmm. Out of curiosity, could you try toggling (removing and then ticking again) the option to Start Dropbox upon system startup from the desktop app's Preferences

If there's no change, I'm more than happy to send you a ticket to the email address connected to your Community profile to have a better look into this.

Let me know how it goes!
