When using MS Word for Mac 2016 and save as PDF, the dropbox links within the PDF do not work?

A test Word for Mac 2016 file with dropbox links within that open upon clicking on...

https://www.dropbox.com/s/j466li1qvsyiag6/Test%20Doc%20201605a.docx?dl=0

PDF version of above however dropbox links within do not open upon clicking?!

https://www.dropbox.com/s/jb2t2zo70xf80ge/Test%20Doc%20201605a.pdf?dl=0

Below is an excerpt from this Test Word Doc...

Idea is to save this file in PDF format and circulate to others so they can simply click on further DROPBOX LINKS within to other files such as other PDF Files.

The thing is…..

If this MS Word for Mac file is emailed to another user, they can access / view the hyperlinks within, example below.

However, if it is first saved to a PDF, they then cannot access all the dropbox links within, instead getting a 404 error message!

Why?

Is there a way to overcome this??

Interestingly enough, if from within the saved as pdf file, one is to copy the link and paste into a web browser the file can be viewed.

Seemingly there may be something amiss with either how MS Word for Mac 2016 saves the hyperlink or how Dropbox rejects Microsoft’s version of the dropbox link??

For example, the links below work in Ms Word but not as a hyperlink when saved as PDF.

Here is the link to this file being save to PDF format…

https://www.dropbox.com/s/jb2t2zo70xf80ge/Test%20Doc%20201605a.pdf?dl=0

Example links that do not work within PDF but do work within MS Word for Mac 2016…

I'd suggest contacting whichever product manufacturer you are using to make the PDF's (Office? Microsoft?) as its a bug within the rendering. Seems like the PDF isnt liking all of the spaces in your links.

Actually, there is a way to generate PDF files including hyperlinks with Word 2016 for Mac :

1 - Insert hyperlinks in your document,

2 - Go to "Save as...", choose PDF and check the box

"Best for electronic distribution and accessibility"

instead of "Best for printing",

3 - Save. It will take a while as it uses Microsoft online services but then the generated PDF file includes hyperlinks!

Hope it will be useful to someone.

Thank you for this! All other answers available when Googling for a solution to the word doc -> PDF problem on Macs provide no practical solution. This actually worked flawlessly for me with Word 2016!
