When I set an upload limit, Dropbox will spend about half the time sending at an average rate of a bit below that limit, and half the time sending at roughly double that limit. Is there a trick to actually getting the limit to always be obeyed?
Hi @djaquay, the upload speed is showing as 384 Kbps, which is approximately 48 KB/s. Assuming the Dropbox app is running at the maximum allowed speed, it should take up less than half of that total at 22 KB/s.
The system monitoring app isn't showing just Dropbox activity, but for all internet activity on your machine. Are there no other apps or services that are connecting to the internet at the same time? If you quit the Dropbox app completely, is there still internet activity?
I have been able to quit the Dropbox client at least a dozen times (e.g. when I need to join a Zoom call for work, from another machine) and see the activity drop to a consistent zero. There are no other apps that I am running that knowingly upload data from this machine. This behavior has been consistent over the past few weeks of uploading (I have a few hundred GB of vids that I'm trying to trickle up to my Dropbox acct, so I'm fine with it taking quite a while).
