Windows file explorer crashes every time Dropbox starts syncing

I go to my Dropbox folder and add a new doc or save a doc and once the Dropbox starts syncing the file explorer crashes and closes the window. It is frustrating. 

If I quit Dropbox then there is no problem.

I am using Windows 10 and Dropbox v116.4.368.

Hi there @mserdar, let's see what we can do here. 

Does this happen regardless of the size or type of the files that you save? 

Could you also have a look and see how many items you have in your Dropbox folder? 

You can do that by right-clicking on the Dropbox folder and selecting Properties.

Yes regardless of the size or the type or the location of the files.

There are 191,673 Files, 12,762 Folders.

It usually first shows the spinning blue circle and the file explorer crashes.

Do you by any chance have any pending updates on your OS? 

If you don't, could you try out these steps and let me know how it goes?

It says "You're up to date"

I did those things for "Fix Permissions" and "Fix Hardlinks".

 

But the file explorer still crashes every time Dropbox starts syncing.

Out of curiosity, does it only occur for files added via the Dropbox folder, or to items that are uploaded to the website and then sync down to your computer as well?

Could you also let me know if you have any pending OS updates and if you've tried a simple reinstall of the desktop app?

I am having the exact same issue. This began today (Feb 22, 2021). I have following the instructions in this thread as well as performed an advanced reinstall. I have no firewall save Windows.

Hey @Thomill, thanks for joining us on this thread and sorry to hear that you're also having trouble deleting files from your Dropbox folder. 

Could you also clarify if this happens to just files you add to your Dropbox folder, or to files that you sync from the website as well?

Just the local desktop Dropbox folder. I can view/navigate on the web fine.

So when you add a file through the website and let it sync to your Dropbox folder, are you able to delete it locally?
