Workaround for Windows XP Pro users

New member | Level 1

My workaround for Windows XP Pro users :
Cleared the "dropbox-upgrade-3.0.3.exe" file from the invisible ".dropbox.cache" folder and replaced it with a FOLDER having the same name - this way this buggy file cannot be saved/written anymore.
Also put a FOLDER there named "dropbox-upgrade-3.0.4.exe" as users above report it is useless too.
Repaired the "Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86)" as mentioned by user Eugene G. above.
Uninstalled Dropbox, cleared the "C:\Documents and Settings[USERNAME]\Application Data\Dropbox" folder and reinstalled version 2.10.52 from https://d1ilhw0800yew8.cloudfront.net/client/Dropbox%202.10.52.exe - now working without issues.
If there would've been an option in Dropbox to disable the auto updates this mess would not have occured...

I am getting an issue where it states that drop box no longer supports xp and will not let me in.  Is there a workaround for this.  I believe I have the most recent xp client.  We have one computer that is on XP and we cannot upgrade or go to Linux for several reasons.  I know I can use the browser but the client works better.
