Just so I can have a better idea of the issue here, can you clarify for me if you're trying to apply the backup settings during the installation of the desktop app? Or do you already have the app installed and you're trying to enable this through the desktop app preferences?
If you're trying to enable this during the setup of the app, instead please skip this step for now and finish setting up the app. After the app is setup, please try enabling the backup with the steps outlined in the backup article here.
Also, please let me know which version of the app you have installed.

It looks like you're using a beta version of the desktop app, I'd suggest downgrading to the latest stable version to see if that helps at all.
