can't get laptop linked to account

can't get laptop linked to account

By mistake I deleted my dropbox folder from my laptop. I have uninstalled and re-installed dropbox from Synaptic. I am running PCLOS KDE.

I have gone to the command line and entered 'Dropbox stop' and then 'Dropbox start' and I get a message that the Dropbox folder has moved, do I want to relink. I click on relink but nothing ever happens. I would appreciate knowing what to do next or what I am doing incorrectly.

Hi @J Harold W.,

I suppose you already have linked your Dropbox application to your account. What "says" Sync tab in Dropbox application Preferences about Dropbox folder location?

I forgot to add, there is no icon for dropbox in the tray. Is there a way to get to preferences another way?

Hmm... Strange! I'm using KDE while writing this and Dropbox tray icon stay there as usual.

Ok, same information could be seen in result from:

cat ~/.dropbox/info.json

as value of "path" field.

Here is what I get.

cat ~/.dropbox/info.json
{"personal": {"path": "/home/hw-kde/Dropbox", "host": 57948826032, "is_team": false, "subscription_type": "Basic"}}

To me that says that the Dropbox folder is at /home/hw-kde/. So how do I get it to sync?

Ok, what is the result from:

ls -l /home/hw-kde | grep Dropbox
realpath ~

/home/hw-kde | grep Dropbox
drwxrwxr-x 2 hw-kde hw-kde 4096 Oct 2 14:44 Dropbox/
drwx------ 11 hw-kde hw-kde 4096 Oct 2 12:48 Dropbox (Old)/

I will assume that the result from "realpath ~" is "/home/hw-kde".

Sems you have linked to some newly created account (probably just created). Is the problem that your files seems are gone? If so, try to find out your old account and use it instead the new one. If for some reason this is impossible, try to resync available locally data (at least) moving it from "Dropbox (Old)" to "Dropbox" directory.

ok I will move data from Dropbox(old) to Dropbox.
