dropbox ate my mac

dropbox ate my mac

I just got a new macbook pro from work, it's a 13inch 2020 running Big Sur version 11.2.3.

After I installed Dropbox my hard drive appears to have been high jacked by dropbox. I am unable to move the drive, including the Documents, Downloads and Desktop folders, out of dropbox.

I have tried uninstalling dropbox, and then the Documents, Downloads and Desktop folders became impossible to use.

I have tried unsyncing the drive in the Dropbox preferences, but this is not possible. I untick but it automatically reverts to sync and the box is ticked next time I open it.

Please see attached screenshot for illustration. Any advice much appreciated.

Problem now solved via the very helpful dropbox twitter account. This issue was this:
