iOS Outlook app is giving an error message when trying to send an email with a Dropbox attachment.

iOS Outlook app is giving an error message when trying to send an email with a Dropbox attachment.

Hi All,

I used to attach a copy of file from dropbox and send that email from outlook.
but recently I got the following message popup and can not send the email.

I saw all my folders show 0 in size but there is file inside.

I tried remove and add back the exchange email account from Outlook.
I tried remove and add back the dropbox account from Outlook.
There is no problem if I use mail app to send mail with dropbox attachments.

iOS, Outlook and dropbox app are latest version.

Any suggestion would be great.

Hi @Rafe, thanks for reaching out to us here!

In this case, since you can attach the file and get the error message after the email is sent, then this might be something Microsoft Support is better equipped to help you with.

However, I'll try my best to see if I can assist you from my end.

Could you let me know exactly how you're attaching the files? Are you doing this from within the email, or exporting the file to the email app? Step-by-step would be great.

Let me know and we can go from there!

Thanks Daphne

1. In a new email, choose attach file

2. Choose the file location from dropboxattach1.jpg

3. Attached as a copy

4. The file can be attached but after press sent, the fail notification will popup.

It is okay to send file attached from Onedrive and iCloud, so I ask Dropbox for help first.

Thanks for the screenshots @Rafe!

Could you try the steps here for exporting the file and try export it to the Outlook app?

If the behaviour persists after this, can you try accessing the Dropbox file by tapping "iCloud Drive & Device" option instead? You should be able to access Dropbox there too.

Keep me posted!

I don't understand what do you mean by export. Can you show me how please?
I am using iPhone mail and iPad mail to attach files from Dropbox. This is work around.
Tapping iCloud drive and device will show my iCloud files and Files file. No Dropbox option.

No problem @Rafe!

To export the file, you can follow the steps below:

  1. Open the Dropbox app.
  2. Navigate to the file you need.
  3. Tap the "..." next to the file.
  4. Tap "Export" and see if you can choose the email app.

Let me know how it goes!

With your suggestion, I can attach the file and send the email, but I can't attach multiple files, right?
May be I just switch to apple Mail app for current moment. Thanks.

I'm glad to hear those steps worked out for you @Rafe!

You can export multiple files at once to your email by first selecting multiple files.

When navigating through your files in the Dropbox app, tap the checkbox icon :ballot_box_with_check: in the top right corner and then select the files you need.

You'll then see the "Export" option at the bottom of the screen in the middle, and then you can choose the email app from there.

I hope this helps!
