I installed dropbox and it was working on both computers. Something happened and now I cannot get into any of my document files. I can only get to "starting with dropbox" and "dropbox....paper" (approximate names). Drop box is doing nothing!

Just to make sure we are aligned on the issue, do you access your account through the Dropbox desktop application or Website?
Do you get any errors when trying to access your files, and if so what would the error be?
I would also like to ask if you're able to see the Dropbox icon on your menu/task bar, and also if you can locate your Dropbox folder on your File Explorer, or Finder.
