My Macbook crashed-- it was mostly backed up on a recent time machine.
I want to now link my new Macbook to Dropbox--which, because of Time machine is going to have most of what is in dropbox.
Can I just connect to dropbox?
Hi @ragiacalone
You will need to use the advanced reinstall option to choose an already existing Dropbox directory and then note - it will take a LONG time to reindex everything and it may show things as deleted/removed/added/moved etc. do not do anything WAIT until its finished and all should be fine 🙂

I looked up how to do this--and it looks complicated. MIght it be easier to simply delete the files on my Macbook and have DB install? I haven't looked up how to do this, but it should be easier...
Personally @ragiacalone that is how I always do it - I just rename the old directory as 'Dropbox-old' (so I have a backup if needed!) and then reinstall Dropbox as a fresh install and leave it on overnight.
That way I know nothing is corrupted etc. and nothing accidentally is replaced with older versions
