"Upgrading Dropbox" never ends (Ubuntu 16.04.4)

"Upgrading Dropbox" never ends (Ubuntu 16.04.4)

temmokan

Dropbox version: 47.4.74

Dropbox today entered "Upgrading Dropbox" state, its notification area icons shows "sync icon" - rotating arrows.

Manual upgrade from Dropbox site didn't help. After I run "dropbox start" and the desktop application started, it soon once again entered "Upgrading Dropbox" state, started showing the sync animated icon.

How I stop that "constant upgrade state?

Hello,

The recent Beta/dev version, which I was offered to try, seems handling the issue I had.

So far, Dropbox didn't enter the "upgrading loop" again.

Thanks!

The end of story is this: Dropbox requires that programs on /tmp be allowed execution.

When /tmp is mounted "noexec", the mentioned "upgrade loop" is initiated.

Remaining question: is this requirement lifted in latest versions, or still is a requirement?

Thanks. No success so far, I have to stop Dropbox daemon, after it's synced, to avoid bandwidth wasting while it is "upgrading".

I am still having same problem. I am running Dropbox v86.4.146. Please help me!

New version of Dropbox V86.4.146 in Ubuntu 16.04 is Upgrading forever

I am runing the last version of Dropbox V.86.4.146 in Ubuntu 16.04 and is staying forever in "upgrading" status. The core running Dropbox is running at 100% and Dropbox is doing nothing. I also have  Dropbox in Ubuntu 18.04, in a different computer, and it does not have that problem.

This is what I get I run dropbox start:
