I had Dropbox (basic) installed on my MAC. During a trip, I had to access a file from my phone and because no more than 3 devices are allowed at a time, I removed my MAC from the list and included my phone. After coming back, I couldn't restart Dropbox on my MAC and tried to uninstall and reinstall it. However, I cannot proceed with the installation and receive the following message:
Couldn't start Dropbox.
This is usually because of a permissions error. Storing your home folder on a network share can also cause an error.
