As an admin, do I get access to team folders that aren't shared with me?

Hello

I am a Team Admin. If I create a team folder inviting a group I don't belong to, do I get access to contents in the folder? What kind of activities can I see/observe under the folder?

Thank you.

Meg

Hey @jazzmeg1,

You'll be able to see all the files and folders within all team folders, as well as manage the permissions and see who the content is shared with.

In terms of previewing the files, you'll see a small preview icon next to the file name, but you may only be able to open Microsoft Office files for viewing.

I hope that clarifies the matter - thanks!

Hello there @jazzmeg1,

If you're not part of the group that the folder is shared with, then you will only be able to access the folder from within the Admin Console. You'll be able to manage all the content and permissions for the folder from there. However, you won't have access to that folder from the Files page or on your desktop if you have the app installed.

You'll still be able to see activities for this folder when creating activity reports within the Admin console too.

I hope that helps, let me know if you have any other questions - thanks!

Hi Daphne

Thank you for your reply.

So as long as I access the team folder from the Admin Console, I can view the files inside and see who is sharing it. Is that correct?
