Do shared links break when we're moving them on a different location on our account?

New member | Level 2

Let's say someone on my team files an asset in their own dropbox, and shares with me. Then I move that file to another folder to our DB for business team account to a folder where it belongs, does the link change?

Shared links will break if the file has been deleted from its Dropbox folder @IRosenthalWSMG. Please check to see that the file is still located in your Dropbox folder. You can look at your deleted files on the following page:

https://www.dropbox.com/deleted_files

Please also be aware that there is a 20GB daily limit on link traffic for Basic accounts, and a 200GB daily limit for paid accounts. Exceeding this limit will disable your shared links whatsoever.

I hope that helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions.

First the person did this:

So-and-so added team members to a shared folder

Then I did this:

I added a team member's shared folder to my dropbox (for business)

Would the original link change??

Hello @IRosenthalWSMG - are you referring to shared links for folders?

Yes, Walter. Thanks for the response.

My team member created a folder in our team folder in DB for Business. Then she shared that folder with me.

The activity admin portal says I "added a team member's shared folder to their Dropbox.' The link we put in an email - which matches the link in the folder - now gives us a 404

So, I"m wondering if I moved her folder (I don't remember doing this, and the folder is in the right place in our DB) would the link change?

If you see the path in the attached you will see - she is Adrianne, and I'm Ilene. She added the file to the folder, shared with me; then I added my team member Adrianne's folder 'to their Dropbox."

Would the link have changed with my moving the folder to a different location in the team DB?

Thanks Walter!

oops it won't take my jpeg for some reason....
