Dropbox Desktop App on Windows 10 not running

New member | Level 2

My Dropbox has been running well for months, then recently I realised the icon no longer appears in the system tray. What I would do normally in this case is to go to programs and open Dropbox application from there and it would open and run fine. This no longer does the trick either. It now simply opens my Dropbox folder when following that route. I've done reinstall, uninstall/reinstall etc. and nothing works. Still same issue. Please assist. Very annoying that Dropbox isn't running as it is an essential part of my work.

Thanks for checking in with us on the Dropbox Forum, let me send over some tips & work through the behavior you’re getting & we’ll take it from there!

I understand that getting back up and running as soon as possible is an essential part of your workflow & I’ll do my best to follow-up on this installation-related issue in any way I can.

For starters, assuming that you’re running Dropbox on a supported OS, my advice would be to ensure that you’ve made all available OS updates on your pc.

Secondly, I’d like to point you towards third party apps that may be killing the updates in the background (eg. some users have reported that the application "Boxifier" blocks the installation from being carried correctly). To bypass this, could you disable any Security/Antivirus programs & give our offline installer a try?

Once you do, please let me know of the outcome in your next post (I’d also appreciate any visuals or additional troubleshooting you’ve done on your own), so that we work on that together as closely as possible. Thanks again & I’m looking forward to hearing back from you on this discussion!
