Dropbox Group / Team - Accident

New member | Level 2
New member | Level 2

I thought I was just receiving a file and somehow got added to a Group and my files were all added to a folder with my name within the group.  I need to get out of the group without losing my folders and documents.

How can I do this?  (also submitted Question in Twitter)

Thank you Walter!  They gave me thier login so they wouldn't mess my account up and I was able to delete and convert myself back to my individual account.  You are awesome, thanks again!

Hi @BarbaraC1 - welcome to our Community!

As it sounds like you accidentally joined a Dropbox for Business Teams account with your own -previously individual- account, your best bet here would be to reach out to the team's admin and have them convert your account back to an individual one

Let me know how it goes Barbara!

Would my Team's admin be the person that sent me the file?

Most likely, yes @BarbaraC1

In the case they aren't though, you can use the steps in our relevant Help Center article to find them

Since you're still able to sign in to Dropbox, use these steps to view your admins:

  1. Sign in to dropbox.com.
  2. Click your team name at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Click Groups and members.
  4. Click Members.

You'll see a list of the admins on your Dropbox Business team at the top of the page.

From there, you should reach out to them (via email or text for example) and ask them to convert your account back to an individual one. You can forward them the relevant Help Center article as well to expedite matters further.

Keep me posted!
