I was recently added to a Dropbox team and my account was merged into theirs so they can share some large files with me. I need to separate my account from their team now, but they are acting stubborn. Are there any other means of being able to do so?

No, only the team admin can do this. You need to make sure they convert your account back to an individual account. If they simply remove your from the team, your account and all your data will be deleted. Make sure they know to convert your account. If they remove you from the team and your account is deleted, they only have seven days to restore the account.
