What happens to my Dropbox Plus subscription once I switch to the Dropbox Business plan?

Explorer | Level 3

I switched from a Dropbox Plus to a Dropbox Business. I paid for the Plus for one year, while we have only been a few months further. Can this be compensated in the dropbox business?

That’s just right drmap, there’s no need for you to worry, as long as they haven’t got admin permissions. Cheers!

Welcome to our Community drmap & thanks for posting your access-related inquiry, I’ll do my best to answer your questions & explain how the feature works in a bit more detail!

For starters, please note that once you invite your employees to join your team, you can access all files stored under the Dropbox Business account. [Note: Ideally, they’ll create a brand-new account, that will be dedicated to the project you’re working on, so as to avoid any potential mixup. In the event that they join your team with a (pre-existing) personal Dropbox account, you can still access their filestructure, though it’s advisable to remove them & re-invite them anew. ]

Moving forward, you may keep in mind that you can access their entire folderstructure once you log into their accounts (i.e. both their personal & shared- internally & externally- content).

All you have to do is go to the Member you’re interested in on your Member’s tab, navigate towards the right-side of your screen & click on the  icon. > Once you click on the 👥Sign in as User option, you’ll receive the following message:

Annie Adams will be notified that you’ve signed in to their account. All actions you perform while signed in as Annie Adams will be recorded in the activity log. Change notification settings

Note: Annie’s settings can only be changed in the members page.

In case you’d like to modify this setting (i.e. by clicking on the hyperlink on the members page above), you’ll be given these options:

Who should be notified when you sign in to this member’s account? They will receive an email stating that you signed in as Annie Adams. Learn more

  • The member and activity log (recommended)
  • All team admins and activity log

That all being said, if the member doesn’t have admin permissions & you choose the second option, they will not be notified of the actions performed during this session.

To my mind, you can also utilize the Activity tab on your admin console, so as to track how data is shared inside and outside your company.

I hope that my post sheds some more light on your options, though I’m always here for more Dropbox tips & tricks. Until then, I’m wishing you a wonderful rest of your day!

I think I am clear. If I log in as that user and choose the second option they will NOT be notified that I was checking their account if they are NOT an Adminstrator ?
