Will shared files and links still work for others after a transition to Team/personal account?

Will shared files and links still work for others after a transition to Team/personal account?

New member | Level 2

Hi. So I have had a Dropbox Pro account for years, and have thousands of files that are shared with clients or project partners. I also have some 'hosting' folders with public/anonymous links where I've needed to make a set of files available to large groups. The account is under my work email address. Now one of my colleagues has created a Team for a project we are on, and invited me to it. I definitely don't want to transition all of my files to the team because it would not be okay with some clients. However, I can't tell if all of those shares and links will break if I transition to a 'personal' account, which is the only other option.

Can anyone report their experience? TIA!

Hi there @stepthrough, thanks for posting your question here.

If you're on a Plus or Professional subscription, you're already on a personal account since they are both individual plans.

Although you won't be able to gain access to the team folder itself, you don't have to join the team to gain access to its files.

Could you ask the user who invited you to share the subfolders of the team folder, instead?

Give me a shout whenever you have any updates on this, cheers!
