You know us, we are big fans of collaboration, but every now and then, we stumble across a topic that totally derails a meeting. While on a call, we noticed that someone on the team is walking around with over 94 unread texts, 50+ Slack notifications and a whopping 67,722 unread emails.
We’re not going to name names though but when I picked myself up from the floor, it sparked a serious debate on our team and we came to the conclusion that there are two kinds of people, those who thrive in notification calm, and those who live for notification chaos - which one are you?
Notifications are cleared, but messages are left as Unread until I take action on them. My Inbox is my To-Do list.
Notifications for this community, however ...
And I'll bet that's a whole lot more than 99! I like the idea of your inbox being your to-do list - although most of my tasks don't come in email form so that's a no go for me unfortunately. But I have gotten better at managing my personal inbox so that tasks are clear there, so I'll take that as a win 😊
Hi @dua k - I definitely agree that the majority of those 67K emails can't be of any major significance, but I still find it soothing to unsubscribe from emails that don't actually matter to me. I recently learned a trick of searching the word 'unsubscribe' to help work through that kind of backlog.
Do you manage your notifications in any particular way?
Searching 'unsubscribe' is such a good idea! I'm going to do that... eventually.
