Refresher: Syncing with Dropbox

Refresher: Syncing with Dropbox

Storing and saving your files is important, we know that! It never hurts to refresh on how to sync your files, so here’s what you need to know.

So, what is syncing?
Sync is the process by which your content is synchronized (synced) between your cloud storage, computers and mobile devices. It means the latest versions of files are always available.

Ok, that makes sense. How does that happen? How do I sync?

A sync happens automatically in your Dropbox account. If there’s a change—a new file, folder, or Space, an edit to an existing file, or a deletion—Dropbox will update those changes from one device to all other connected devices.
All updates happen in the background, as long as you have an active internet connection, you have the Dropbox desktop or mobile apps installed, and you’re signed in. If you’re offline, files in your Dropbox folders and Spaces will sync as soon as the device is online again.

So really, you don’t have to do a whole lot, just set up your account correctly and Dropbox does the rest.

To sync across your computers, phones, and tablets:
  1. Install the Dropbox app on your computer, phone, or tablet you want to sync with.
  2. Sign in to the same Dropbox account on each computer, phone, and tablet.
  3. Add files into your Dropbox folder. As long as a file is in your Dropbox folder, it syncs to all your connected computers, phones, and tablets.
Your devices are like windows into your Dropbox account. Once you sign in, you have access to your Dropbox files, no matter where you are.

Sync keeps you up to date, and keeps everything in, well, sync!
