Multiple Business accounts with the same email+2 Business accounts on the desktop.

Multiple Business accounts with the same email+2 Business accounts on the desktop.

I need multiple drop box teams for different customers. It is not practical for everyone to create multiple e-mail addresses for each dropbox. Is there a solution for one person to be on different teams without having multiple e-mail addresses?

Can I have 2 dropbox business accounts on 1 computer?  Or does it have to be 1 dropbox business account and 1 dropbox personal account?

You're on the right track Rebecca - this is only possible for one individual account (be it on the Basic, Plus or Professional plan) and a Business one that's part of an account on a Dropbox for Business teams plan.

Let me know if you have any more questions!

Add me to the list of frustrated DropBox users.  I own two businesses and not being able to access both DropBox accounts simultaneously is a non-starter for me.  I hate to consider moving to Google Drive, but that may be my best option.

Hi Walter,

I'm messaging on this thread to emphasize the need for mutliple Dropbox Buisness accounts per email to become a thing. I work in the film/entertainment industry and I've encountered several individuals thus far that we're struggling to add to our show (which has its own Dropbox Business account) because they are still working on another project that has its own Dropbox Business account and they're not allowed to have two accounts with one email; I've encountered this issue with 4 new users just today!

Please pass along this need. As an industry predominately built on freelance workers, we often use our personal email addresses for our work. This fix would be GAMECHANGING for us on our show, and I'm confident it would be for others as well.

Thanks for your feedback @Rinele - much appreciated!

I'm merely writing to let you know that I have noted your comments and I'll make sure to include them in my feedback report - thanks so much for your valuable input on this one!

In the meantime, you can also upvote a similar, existing feature request from the link below:

I would also like to add my name to the list for this feature request.  I am a consultant and have several clients that use Dropbox for Business.  I also have a personal Dropbox account and a business Dropbox account for my own business. Having the ability to sync up multiple Business Dropbox accounts on my MacBook and iPad would make my life much easier.

Thanks

Has there been any development, or is there any planned development, to allow multiple Dropbox business accounts on one PC? It's easy enough to switch between personal and business, but why can't a second or third business account be added? Many people I'm sure work for more than one company and need ability to have offline access to both companie's shared files and folders. It is not practical to have separate Windows user profiles just for this, and the workarounds just don't work for me.

For my situation I may end up ditching Dropbox for one of the businesses (my one) and using Egnyte instead.

I cant fix the one email per dropbox account, but I dont honestly think that is a big concern. Just use Gmail accounts and name them accordingly.

Here is how to have multiple Bussiness accounts runing at the same time on Windows 10.

1) Create a common place for the dropbox folders to be placed say C:\DB ensure the permissions on this folder are set to full access EVERYONE or to the set of windows users you are going to use. So creating your dropbox here will make C:\DB\Dropbox (ComapnyName) or something like that. You have to select the location C:\DB at install time or use the move function if already installed.

2) Next you must create a window user for every additional dropbox account you want.

3) Setup the Additional dropbox account in the additional windows user account. Set the base folder to C:\DB and it will add C:\DB\Dropbox (2ndCompanyName). Set this additional dropbox account to NOT START automaticly.

4) return to your primary windows user account, right click the start button and select RUN then enter "shell:startup" this opens a File Expolrer in your user Startup folder

5) in the Startup folder right click and select NEW shortcut, then in the shortcut address field (1st one) paste the following

C:\Windows\System32\runas.exe /savecred /user:TheAdditionalWindowUsername "C:\Program Files (x86)\Dropbox\Client\Dropbox.exe"

TheAdditionalWindowUsername is the name of the additional windows username not the string litteral "TheAdditionalWindowUsername"

6) Run the shortcut, the first time it runs it will ask you for the password of the windows user specified, supply it and it saves it for auto start next time.

Thats it, the other windows user Dropbox will start and sync files while your in your main windows user account. runas.exe does just as its named, runs something as another user but in your user login.

The Special file explorer menu for the dropbox folders will not appear for the other accounts so favorite them to the top of the explorer list, remember all the folders are in C:\DB

* I have used this approach for the last 5 years *
