Keep folders on top when sorting by name in iOS mobile app

Apple has added the option to "keep folders on top when sorting by name" in Finder since macOS Sierra, so its very annoying that I can't use this feature in Dropbox using the iOS app. I can understand that Dropbox wants to have a unified user experience, but technically speaking, Dropbox should have this option now to match this new user experience. The default can be listing all folders and files alphabatically, but users can select this option under options menu.

Hi @haniag, thanks for posting your comments here & welcome aboard! First, you may notice that I’ve gone ahead & moved your post to “Share an idea”.

You may keep in mind that if you navigate to the sorting option that’s on the left-hand side of your Files tab in your iOS mobile device & select sort by type, each category should have the folders & files automatically sorted alphabetically.

However, from what I understand, you’d like to be able to further change the sorting method to have the folder types at the top, followed by file types, and so on, is this correct? I’d be more than happy to pass on your comments to the dev team.

Let me know if you have any further feedback you’d like me to forward or if you have any other questions. In the mean time, have a wonderful day ahead!

Thanks Lusil for the information. Yes, the suggested solution achieves what I have in mind and it's a workaround, but data becomses categorized based on type in sections. What I had in mind is sorting on "Name" would show all files and folders, yet have folders on top (sorted) and files below folders (sorted) without sections. This is the normal behavior in macOS Finder and Windows Explorer. Thanks.

Agreed. I hate that files and folders are mixed together when sorted by Name, and sorting by Type is not a solution because it then puts photos and videos above everything else when they should be with Files because they are, wait for it...

FILES.

Folders with folders. Files with files. Each sorted by name regardless of their type.
