Mac OS X 64 bit version?

Helpful | Level 5

At what point will we see a 64 bit version for OS X? It is one of the last of my always running apps that is 32 bits? While many will say it is not necessary to have a 64 bit version that 32 is just fine, there are background processes that run to support 32 bit apps running on a 64 bit machine. Since just about everything else has been converted by their developers, isn't it about time for Dropbox to make the change?

Thanks!

Dropbox does not release ETAs for any upcoming features or products.

I'd also love to see a 64-bit Mac version.

Same here.

@Rich R. - Can you at least say if it's in the works ? Or is it planned ? Or you decided not to pursue a 64bit version ? Anything ?

It would be nice to see this sooner than later. Fewer and fewer processes are running at 32Bit. While it is not much overhead, there are additional process that need to allow a 32bit application to run on today's 64bit machines. Even Microsofts Onedrive is 64bit. My remaining 32bit processes are Crashplan, Google Drive, and Dropbox.

I know that many companies like to hide behind the "We don't comment on future development.....," the ones that do are really great to work with.

Haven't we had the 64 bit version of Dropbox for Windows available since 2008? I'm am curios to know why there is no 64 bit version for OS X by now especially considering how long the OS has been 64 bit ready.

I would like a 64 bit version as well. Seriously! As much as I use dropbox and it's tight integration with the Mac OS X, I was shocked to see in my Activity Viewer that this is the only application running on 32-bit. I have a Mac Pro and would like to maximize the memory/multiple threads when dealing with multiple applications, including DropBox. Any updates on this?
