Save files in multiple locations without making copies

Save files in multiple locations without making copies

When organizing your files into folders, it can be difficult to decide exactly where to save certain files. For instance, would a Contract of a Project go into my “Contracts” folder, or into my “Client” folder, or not to mention my "Projects" folder? As you might know the Google Drive has already have this great feature and I just wondering if dropbox has something similar.

Hi Gabe,

You want to be able to save a file in multiple destinations, right? This is not currently possible, but if the file is exactly the same, you can add it to a folder which is shared between contractors and clients.

Thanks for your feedback anyway!

Any chance this feature will be added soon? It would be great to be able to save a file in multiple destinations, instead of making copies...

Ditto.

Has this feature been added yet? I need to save a file in multiple folders and have to go each one and update when something changes on that document.

I'm here to bring this back up! We just organized and cleaned up our entire Dropbox and it was my job to see if this was possble. We would rather not have to switch everything over after we got it all organized, but it's a big system, and it's important that we be able to update a document in one location and have it update in all locations. Casting my vote for this feature to be pushed toward the top of the list for development.

i would like to cast my vote as well. users definitely need the ability to see a file in multiple locations. This could be accomplished with a file "Shortcut" option or alternatively by allowing "tags" to add another layer of structure and organization to filing items.

hi all- are there any updates on this? I believe only option now is to create a link to that orginal file? This is not ideal as it wouldn't work in the desktop version, you'd still be sent to the website
