Shared vs. Team folders

New member | Level 1

My team recently switched to Dropbox for Business which has worked well for us. I would recommend that team folders actually show up as "Team" under the "kind" category instead of "Shared" in order to differentiate the two. It is confusing that all my folders show up as Shared when some are actually Team folders and others are shared with a combination of internal and external folders. I understand I can differentiate the two on another screen but it would be really helpful to see the differences on the first screen of the Dropbox web site.

Hi there,

Sorry for the late response - are you still having issues?

Hi, Ed. I don't have an issue, just a suggestion that team folders be labeled as team folders, not shared. It is very confusing for me as the administrator to have all my folders labeled as shared when some are team folders and some are folders that are shared with internal and external colleagues. Thanks.

I recently went to dropbox for business and created a team with members and a team folder.  So far so good.  I am now trying to add someone to a long-standing shared folder that is not in the team folder and I get a message that I can only share this folder with team members (it is already shared with non team members).  When I look at settings it shows me a lock and will not let me edit the usage other than allow me to choose who can edit and if the folder can be shared outside the team (which is ticked yes).  It shows me a lock.  How can I take control of this folder and share it with who I like?  Did all my folders become team folders when I signed up for dropbox for business?  It seems that some other shared folders from before are functioning normally.

I made a Team Folder for my PA of our main shared folder. I see changes in the Shared folder are not syncing to the Team Folder. I have been through the support FAQs and cannot find anywhere how to ensure the two folders are syncing. Thanks.

Hi,

I use dropbox for my team at office. Is there any way that I can send the comment for all team without adding @mention to somebody? Some files need to inform for all team member.

Thank you.

I've just taken on new staff members and have upgraded to Dropbox Business so I can handle file access with them. All of our documents are contained within a single folder (with plenty of subfolders). Occasionally, we share individual files and even folders with people outside the company. Should I make this main folder a team folder or a shared folder?

Thank you.
