I seem to be able to only delete photos from the file list now, but I like to edit my photos from the viewing pane and delete them as I go.
I just switched to google photos since I wasn't able to delete pictures anymore in the Dropbox new photo view page. I have to say that google photos is so much better! Sorry Dropbox.
As I have a lot of confidential images, I need to "exclude" some folders from the photo timeline feature. The old feature was better than the new one, or explain how can I implement this necessary action.
Dropbox is important to fix this bug. Is a stepback for the service I'm paying
As an alterenative way to solve this problem, how can we move in an easy way, more than 6 thousand photos form Dropbox to Google Photos?
I'm not sure how you move from dropbox to google photos. I've been moving all my photos from apple photos to google, about 70,000 pics. I've just been dragging and dropping. It's been pretty easy but definitley takes some time. But it seems to me google photos is much more geared for photo storage than dropbox. I wasn't a long time dropbox user so I wasn't as invested as some people might be though. But I definitely had thousands of pictures stored. Just wasn't happy with the new updated photo view page. It seemed like a downgrade to me. Google photos is so much better for photo storage.
Be aware that the free unlimited Google photo storage will reduce the image quality if your photos come from a very high quality source such as some DSLR cameras. Dropbox stores photos without degrading the image. If you choose the paid version of Google Photos, it stores them in their original quality.
I agree that Google Photos and several other cloud storage options are much more friendly than Dropbox for managing photos. I think dropbox has got some catching up to do.
Yes. this is very annoying. I recently registered for an annual subscription at dropbox and started moving photos and data over here. The one thing I don't like is I can't delete photos from the viewing window! Very annoying. It takes too many extra steps to delete photos. Adds work. Please fix!
It is ridiculous that the ability to delete from a photos view was removed. Whoever decided this needs to be reprimanded. For photo storage dropbox is good but as a consumer I want the ability to easily delete whatever I want. I am using dropbox for my family photo and video storage so that in the event that I pass my children will have access to it. I do not want unrelated images or files mixed in with the important ones.
Someone has to make deleting pics easier. I am so angry that I just might take the time to end my business relations with dropbox for an alternative photo storage company.
I hope someone is in Dropbox team is listening!!! But before I close my account Id love to know WHY this change was made, obviously designed by someone who has never used dropbox for photos???
I just uploaded new folders with travel photos , after being away for all of September. I inadvertently duplicated some files , then tried for 30 minutes to delete the duplicates. All the easy tools to delete, duplicate, etc. have vanished.
Following outdated directions after searching on Help, I find the drag & drop into trash on my Mac doesn't work. Searches turns up more outdated directions; it was so easy to clean up files (prior to July 2017) So easy to do I NEVER thought about the mechanics of to deleting files.
Now I read this, and it's unbelievable - there's zero way to delete pictures? Not a service any longer, a serious intrusion and demand on my time in file management. RESTORE THE DELETE tools!
It seems that dropbox is focusing development efforts for photos to mobile apps and letting the website interface fall behind. This type of experience is not just Dropbox. I see other applications I have used on the web for some time doing the same thing. New functionality goes to the mobile apps. Website bugs are never fixed. Functionality is falling behind. Apple is even pushing all of their user app development toward iphone and especially ipad.
Dropbox still has the superiod cloud engine and is everywhere and supports robust sharing, but they are trailing Amazon, Google, and Microsoft in user interface development. I will stay with them a few months longer, but if I do not see directional improvements, I'll be switching to something else.
