Not able to save Powerpoint files in or out of the Dropbox folder?

Not able to save Powerpoint files in or out of the Dropbox folder?

Hi everyone, I'm having issues with powerpoint files on dropbox. T

he last few days, a powerpoint that I am working on will come up a warning say that something has happened to this file outside powerpoint and to save a copy to keep your changes.

When I try and save a copy, even when I try and save it outside dropbox it wont allow me to save it. Images have disappeared off the slides. When I reopen the file online dropbox the powerpoint is empty.

Slighty concerned as this has happened a few times and I have lost work as a result.

This only started happening this week. Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks

Hey there Adam ( @adamkconlon) - sorry to hear about this!

First off, note that if you get these errors outside your Dropbox Folder they could be generated by Powerpoint itself ( in which case you'd need to reach out to them). To help isolate this, could you please try quitting the Dropbox application by using the following steps:

  • Click the Dropbox icon in your system tray (Windows) or menu bar (Mac/Linux)
  • Click on the gear icon in the Notifications panel and select "Quit Dropbox"

Let me know if you still see these errors with Dropbox closed please.

Having said that and as I'd really like to help in any way I can, could you also please provide some more information and a screenshot of the problem too? Are you having this issue with all files or specific ones?

Thank you in advance for your reply and feel free to provide any information you think might help our investigation.

Hi Walter,

Thanks for your rapid reply and help, I really appreciate it

So I quit dropbox on my mac and was able to save a copy of the powerpoint on my computer.

It is still missing the images with the message "the image part of the relationship ID rld2 was not found in this file"

Is this document saved within your Dropbox account or perhaps the file Powerpoint fails to locate @adamkconlon? Have you contacted Microsoft as it's their product giving you the error?
