'Unable to open Dropbox' error message

I have just transferred files from a MacBook to a Mac Mini using Migration Assistant on High Sierra 10.13.6.

I've now lost the Dropbox icon and when clicking on the app get the message 'Unable to open Dropbox'.  I've looked for previous questions on this in the hope of finding the answer.  I see people in 2015 and 2016 did the same thing as me but probably with Yosemite and there is no solution shown.

I've tried reinstalling but still get the same message.

Is that it?  Dropbox just doesn't work any more for me?

Re: 'Unable to open Dropbox' error message

Hi Walter

After some more work on this, and testing things out on another user on the same machine, I realised Dropbox was looking for a non-existent home folder.

Through some advice I saw that Chris_J gave a couple of years ago, I got it fixed.

Thanks

Rosneath

Re: 'Unable to open Dropbox' error message

Sorry to hear that @Rosneath!

If I were you, I would also try a clean, advanced re-install using our offline installer to see if this will fix it. If that does not improve your situation at all, please send me a screenshot of the exact error message you get and we'll take it from there.

Thank you!

Re: 'Unable to open Dropbox' error message

Hi Walter

Thank you for that.  However, I am unable to even begin with uninstalling because when I click on the Dropbox icon, I get the attached message

Dropbox.jpeg

and if I try to drag the folder to Trash, I get this:

Dropbox move.jpeg
