"Couldn't start Dropbox"

Hi Dropbox,


I recently transferred computer files and have been unable to start up dropbox on my new machine. This is the error messsage I receive:

Couldn't start Dropbox.


This is usually because of a permissions error. Storing your home folder on a network share can also cause an error.

don't know what OS you are using

Hi Chris,


I've looked at those two pages already. I don't believe they can solve my problem since Dropbox won't even boot up. When I click on the app to start it, it fails to boot up and gives me the warning message I elicited before. I recently transferred all my contents of my old computer to my new one, so the Dropbox file is where it always was.


I'm running Mac OS X Sierra 10.12.2
